about CharterGuest Instructions

GUEST INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for joining us on the Local Edition of CNN HLN, produced by Charter Communications.

The Charter Local Edition News Anchor that has scheduled you for an interview will contact you directly with specific information they need. These items are simply to be taken as general guidelines.

Our News Anchors are responsible for scheduling interviews and will contact guests directly.

  • Please arrive at the studio 15-30 minutes before your scheduled call time.
  • If you have any high resolution stills and/or video that can be used as “b-roll” to help illuminate the topic with pictures, please bring them with you on the day of the taping on a CD or DVD. They will help bring the interview segments to life.
  • In terms of b-roll, our preferred format is DVD/CD. To the extent that you are providing stills, our preferred format is jpg. Please provide a copy that need not be returned.
  • There will be a make-up artist on site. She is available to protect all of us from excessive shine. She will not be able to put “full-face” on our female guests.
  • Please avoid wearing bright white shirts, black, red and clothing/ties with any designs that consist of small patterns, checks or narrow stripes.
  • The guests will be sitting during the interviews. The camera will shoot from mid torso up.
  • For quality and uninterrupted TV productions, only the guest that is being interviewed is allowed in the studio. Individuals accompanying guests are asked to wait in the designated lobby or green room.
  • The segments are live-to-tape. That means that we tape the segments as if they are live without interruption, but they are not broadcast live. Each individual segment will run approximately 12 times in a single-week period in homes served by Charter throughout Southern and Centrral California (approximately 500,000 homes). The segments will also run “On Demand”.
  • You will leave the taping with a DVD of the segment(s). The DVD will play a clean version of the entire interview, but will not include any graphics or b-roll. If you wish to get the final, broadcast version of the segment, please email our administrative assistant, Meelene Diep at meelene.diep@chartercom.com, the 3rd week following the taping and we will do our best to get you a copy of the final segment.
  • Generally, the interview(s) will air two, three or four weeks after taping.
  • You are permitted to stream the segment on your website – as long as the Segment is not doctored (i.e., removing the logos, etc.).
